Cut the tape, boost growth
European businesses are drowning in excessive bureaucracy - it’s time to cut it. The EPP Group welcomes the European Commission’s fourth "Omnibus" simplification package, which aims to slash bureaucracy, ease regulatory burdens, and help mid-cap companies scale up and compete globally.
"We need swift action to empower the backbone of Europe's economy," says Tomas Tobé MEP, EPP Group Vice-Chair and Spokesman for the Omnibus Simplification Packages.
Mid-cap companies, particularly those that have recently outgrown the SME category, contribute significantly to the EU economy. They represent 13 per cent of total employment and are key players in strategic sectors like electronics, health, and energy.
"Our expectations are high for this next step in cutting regulatory and administrative burdens. We are committed to setting the right conditions for jobs, growth and innovation. This targeted Omnibus for small mid-caps must enable that," Tobé emphasises.
Dolors Montserrat MEP, EPP Group Vice-Chair for Economy and Environment, adds: "Life for small companies needs to be made easier. A clear definition of small mid-cap companies is essential to ease reporting and monitoring obligations and simply allow them to concentrate on what they do best: building their business."
Excessive bureaucracy is holding European businesses back. The EPP Group is leading the way to reduce it.
